1/11/09 notes

Jer 22:
1Thus says the LORD, "Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and there speak this word
2and say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, who (A)sits on David's throne, you and your servants and your people who enter these gates.
3'Thus says the LORD, "(B)Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been robbed from the power of his (C)oppressor Also (D)do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan, or the widow; and do not (E)shed innocent blood in this place.
4"For if you men will indeed perform this thing, then (F)kings will enter the gates of this house, sitting in David's place on his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, even the king himself and his servants and his people.
5"(G)But if you will not obey these words, I (H)swear by Myself," declares the LORD, "that this house will become a desolation."'"
13"Woe to him who builds his house (T)without righteousness
And his upper rooms without justice,
Who uses his neighbor's services without pay
And (U)does not give him his wages,
14Who says, 'I will (V)build myself a roomy house
With spacious upper rooms,
And cut out its windows,
Paneling it with (W)cedar and painting it bright red.'
15"Do you become a king because you are competing in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink
And (X)do justice and righteousness?
Then it was (Y)well with him.
16"He pled the cause of the (Z)afflicted and needy;
Then it was well
(AA)Is not that what it means to know Me?"
Declares the LORD.
17"But your eyes and your heart
Are intent only upon your own (AB)dishonest gain,
And on (AC)shedding innocent blood
And on practicing oppression and extortion."
Ez: 33: 1And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2"Son of man, speak to the (A)sons of your people and say to them, 'If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one man from among them and make him their watchman,
3and he sees the sword coming upon the land and (B)blows on the trumpet and warns the people,
4then he who hears the sound of the trumpet and (C)does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, his (D)blood will be on his own head.
5'He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; his blood will be on himself. But had he taken warning, he would have (E)delivered his life.
6'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is (F)taken away in his iniquity; but his (G)blood I will require from the watchman's hand.'
7"Now as for you, son of man, I have (H)appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them (I)warning from Me.
8"When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will (J)surely die,' and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.
9"But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he (K)does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have (L)delivered your life.
10"Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'Thus you have spoken, saying, "Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we are (M)rotting away in them; (N)how then can we survive?"'
11"Say to them, '(O)As I live!' declares the Lord GOD, 'I take (P)no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked (Q)turn from his way and live (R)Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?'
12"And you, son of man, say to your fellow citizens, 'The (S)righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will (T)not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.'
13"When I say to the righteous he will surely live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he (U)commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but in that same iniquity of his which he has committed he will die.
14"But when I say to the wicked, 'You will surely die,' and he (V)turns from his sin and practices (W)justice and righteousness,
15if a wicked man restores a pledge, (X)pays back what he has taken by robbery, walks by the (Y)statutes which ensure life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
16"(Z)None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has practiced justice and righteousness; he shall surely live.
17"Yet your fellow citizens say, 'The way of the Lord is not right,' when it is their own way that is not right.
18"When the righteous turns from his righteousness and (AA)commits iniquity, then he shall die in it.
19"But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and practices justice and righteousness, he will live by them.
20"Yet you say, '(AB)The way of the Lord is not right.' O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways."

2 Cor 6: 14(AI)Do not be bound together with (AJ)unbelievers; for what (AK)partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
15Or what (AL)harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a (AM)believer in common with an (AN)unbeliever?
16Or (AO)what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are (AP)the temple of (AQ)the living God; just as God said,
"(AR)I WILL (AS)DWELL IN THEM AND (AT)WALK AMONG THEM;
AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
17"(AU)Therefore, (AV)COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord.
"AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN;
And I will welcome you.
18"(AW)And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be (AX)sons and daughters to Me,"
Says the Lord Almighty.
1 cor 5: 9I wrote you in my letter (P)not to associate with immoral people;
10I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with (Q)idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.
11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called (R)brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or (S)an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one.
12For what have I to do with judging (T)outsiders? (U)Do you not judge those who are within the church?
13But those who are outside, God judges. (V)REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

2 cor 5: 14For the love of Christ (U)controls us, having concluded this, that (V)one died for all, therefore all died; 15and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer (W)live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. 16Therefore from now on we recognize no one (X)according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17Therefore if anyone is (Y)in Christ, he is (Z)a new creature; (AA)the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18Now (AB)all these things are from God, (AC)who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the (AD)ministry of reconciliation, 19namely, that (AE)God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, (AF)not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20Therefore, we are (AG)ambassadors for Christ, (AH)as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be (AI)reconciled to God. 21He made Him who (AJ)knew no sin to be (AK)sin on our behalf, so that we might become the (AL)righteousness of God in Him.
Gal 6: 1Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Matt 18: 15"If your brother sins against you,[a] go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
